About Us

The NHS Gender National Referral Support Service (GNRSS) has provided referral and waiting list support on behalf of NHS England since 2019.

We manage the national waiting list for children and young people referred to NHS Children and Young People’s Gender Services in England and Wales. We receive referrals on behalf of these services, keep contact with patients and parents to ensure personal contact details are up to date. We will get in touch when a referral is close to the top of the waiting list to check whether an appointment by a CYP Gender Service is still needed and discuss what happens next.

We are an administrative referral and waiting list service that does not provide specialist clinical care or advice. If you are worried about a young person’s physical or mental health, please contact their GP or, if they are already receiving support, their local children and young people’s mental health or paediatric service.

Contact us

If you need to tell us about a change to a young person’s referral details this can be done via Change Your Contact Details - AGEM_Gender_Services or by email to agem.cyp-gnrss@nhs.net giving us their old details as well as new and their date of birth.

If you have a question that cannot be answered in the FAQ’s or the chatbot, then you can email us at agem.cyp-gnrss@nhs.net or call 0300 131 6775. We may ask you to still email us after a call to ensure we have all the information when looking at your query.

As an administrative service we do not have specialist clinical support, therefore if there are concerns about a child or young person’s behaviour or presentation we recommend contact their GP or clinical team, if open to CYP Mental Health or Paediatric Team.

Complaints and Feedback

We welcome feedback when people are happy with the service they have received and this can be done via email agem.cyp-gnrss@nhs.net.

However, if you are unhappy with any part of our service, please let us know. You can email us to explain what has happened, and we will do our best to help and put things right where we can to agem.cyp-gnrss@nhs.net.

If you would like to make a formal complaint, please visit the NHS England page, where you can find guidance on how to raise your complaint.
